Join ActforPal for a timely and important conversation on the integral role of Palestinian music and song in the resistance movement, and in celebration of Palestinian voices and the preservation of collective memory and cultural heritage.

This webinar brings together musicians and scholars to explore how Palestinian musical expression and global solidarity songs shape political consciousness and fuel struggles for liberation. The guest speakers will analyse the power of music in binding people around social justice and countering colonialist discourse whilst fighting back against erasure and genocide through lyrics and creative composition.

Envisioned as a cultural evening of poetry and music, the webinar combines critical dialogue on resistance and solidarity with artistic expression, revealing the extent to which sound and performance are ingrained in Palestinian cultural heritage, thus defeating the continuous Israeli attempts to erase it.

Featured speakers:
Dr Atef Alshaer (Reader, University of Westminster)
Dr Louis Brehony (musician, writer, and filmmaker)
Mr George Totari (musician and founder of Kofia Band)

The webinar will be moderated by Dr Dalia Mostafa (University of Edinburgh) and Dr Asma Hussein (University of Jordan).
